My Birthday Treat In Mongolia
Date-14 Aug 2006
Venue-INNER MONGOLIA
This is my first birthday celebrated with my partner, who is now officially my hubby. And he has brought me to a very special place that I have never thought of. Sorry, lost the receipt, so, no names for the dishes described here.
STARTER
Type-Cold Dish
Make-Soya Strips, Carrot, Cucumber, & Chinese Celery
Sauce/Gravy-Curry Oil (Just the oil)
Texture-Special, Unlike the usual soya strips
Taste-Appetizing, Like salad minus the calories of mayo
Rating-Me (5 stars), Hubby (4 stars)
MAIN COURSE
Type-Meat
Make-Mutton Leg, Stewed to perfection, Garnished with parsley & Orchid
Sauce/Gravy-Slightly spice dry gravy
Texture-Meat is tender, great for both young & old
Taste-Better than lamb shank from elsewhere
Rating-Me (4 stars), Hubby (Don't like mutton at all)
Type-Meat
Make-Beef on Sizzling Hot Plate, Deep fried beef then stir fried with vegetable
Sauce/Gravy-Smooth tomato gravy
Texture-Meat is tender & spongy (marvelous)
Taste-Nothing spectacular
Rating-Me (3 stars), Hubby (2 stars)
Type-Vegetable
Make-Pumpkin strips & Red Pepper Garnish (all deep fried with Salted Egg Yolk Coating)
Sauce/Gravy-None, Served as is
Texture-Crispy on the outside & Soft in the inside
Taste-Slightly salty on the outside & Sweet in the inside
Rating-Me (Thumbs Up), Hubby (Superb)
DRINKS
Type-Drink (Served hot, recommended to add a cube of ice to avoid burning taste buds)
Make-Salted Milk Tea
Texture-Smooth
Taste-Slightly salted tea with lots of fresh cow's milk
Rating-Me (3 stars), Hubby (Don't dare to try, Do not like milk)
DESSERT
Type-Fruits (Served cold)
Make-Water Melon
Texture-Normal Water Melon
Taste-Normal Water Melon
Rating-It's complimentary, so it's good to have...
In summary, my hubby & I both like the pumpkin strips best. Everything else is nice and wonderful. It's a very special experience as all the people working there looked like authentic beings from Gengis Khan. Service is marvelous but the interior is just so so.
